Probably the coldest day of the season so far. It was -22° when i got up. Only -10° at Okemo, but windy and any warmth is just sucked out. I spent the day riding trees with Megan and Anna. By the end of the day i was completely spent.

My friend Rod was in town, gathering up all of his daughter's belongings from Castleton University. He stayed the night.

Snowed all day, but not terribly hard. I woke up with a sore throat but went in to work because i knew that i was needed to ride with Anna and Megan all day. It wasn't brutally cold (finally!) and we rode a lot of trees again. I was spent by the end of the day.

Called in sick. Stayed in bed until noon, then watched the movie Baby Driver and some Futurama episodes. I made one run out of the house to get my CSA veggies and it was super cold. In the late afternoon i called in to see if i could take the next day off as well. Since it was going to be super-cold again and not terribly busy, i figured that they'd say yes and they did.

Very cold morning, so took my first Moss Motoring Challenge picture of the year ("signs of winter"). It slowly warmed up as the day progressed. I had the black-level kids—two for the morning (one who was actually blue-level) and one for the whole day. He was a pretty good rider. At the end of the day, Katie told me that i didn't have to come in the next day, which worked out well since my cold came back in force.

I hate when i get a good idea for a book and then realize that i now have to actually write it.

Spent the morning doing a condensed training of a couple of new instructors (with a couple loops through the halfpipe). No afternoon lessons, so left after 1:30 line-up.

Raining all day. I took a very wet run in the morning, then left after 10 o'clock line-up.

15° in the morning. My truck was iced over. It was calm in the morning at my house but by the time i got to Okemo, it was BLASTING wind. Over 65MPH at the summit. All the lifts were on hold until 10:00 AM. I had a 3-hour level-1 private at 11:30, which was my only lesson of the day. The student didn't progress very far and we didn't even make it to the carpet lift, but at least we stayed by the condos which was relatively sheltered from the wind.

Nothing in the morning until a 10:30 2-hour private with a couple of blue/black-level kids. That was the only lesson that i had on my schedule going into the day, but i got booked with two more 1-hour privates. Still cold out, but not as brutally windy.

I was scheduled for an 8:30 2-hour private, but i talked to the supervisors when i noticed that there was a dearth of instructors for the all-day black-level lesson and they switched me onto that. It was the usual Monday girls, Megan and Anna, plus a boy named Kurt who was riding at their level. We did a lot of park and halfpipe runs.

Winter League ultimate, late game: We beat the Green team by a possibly-record-setting 50-17. I felt pretty good out on the field, but my throws were lackluster. The consequences of snowboarding, where one doesn't ever use one's arms.

Nina, Isaiah, and Naima arrived with all of their bags.

Beautiful but busy work day (don't remember what i taght) and didn't get to ski with the family. Almost forgot to go over to the farm after work and got there in the late afternoon light.

Had private lessons until 1:30, then i spent the afternoon teaching Naima how to snowboard.

Spent a couple hours chatting with Apple Support since my 2011 Macbook had been crashing when playing videos for the past day or two.

Spent the morning working with Naima some more, then had two private lessons and straight into a clinic on ollies and nollies. There was one instructor from the Clock Tower side of the mountain and five more from Jackson Gore.

My MacBook now refused to start at all.

I drove over to the authorized Apple repair place in Rutland in the morning only to find that no one was there and it was by appointment only. I called and left a couple messages and spent some time at Home Depot before giving up and driving home. Right when i got home, i got a message from the place and called back. he said he'd be in and i could bring it in, so i drove back to Rutland and when i told him how old it was he said that it was unfixable. He hooked it up to a diagnostic server and confirmed that the logic board was shot. I left there at about noon and drove two blocks to the movie theater. There was a showing of The Last Jedi at 12:10 so i bought some popcorn and settled in to watch it. As the previews were playing, a steady stream of water was pouring from the ceiling into the aisle (it was raining steadily all day).

Got home and spent some time on the phone with Apple sales buying a new (refurbished) MacBook Pro.

Winter League ultimate, late game: We beat the White team 41-26. I got scored on a couple of times, but also got two blocks, and nearly a third.

New MacBook Pro arrived. The adapters and dock were all kinda wrong, so i called Apple and arranged to have them returned, then bought a better dock from Other World Computing.

Had a 12:30 one-hour private with a college student who wanted to learn intro terrain park stuff. She wanted to take a group lesson (more time, less money) but Okemo stopped selling those a couple of years ago due to lack of lessons, so she had to shell out the bucks for a private. I gave her an extra 20 minutes since there were no afternoon lessons.

Got all of the new MacBook peripherals hooked up, but had issues with migrating my old data, so had to reinstall the system.

Two one-hour privates in the morning, one with a 7-year-old girl who was just learning to slide and stop, and one with a 14-year-old boy who was a good skier and picked up turning really fast.

Finally got the new computer running with (mostly) all the old settings. Kinda frustrating process.

One-hour request private at 8:30, then an hour off followed by four hours of privates (one 2-hour, two 1-hours). Warm day.

Two-hour request private in the morning. It was a kid that i hadn't taught before but was a recommendation from another instructor who couldn't be there that day. After that i had a 1-hour private with a teenager who wanted to learn rails and jumps, then i bolted over to Solitude to meet up with four Jackson Gore snowboard instructors and run a carving clinic. The snow was very granite-like and we couldn't get much carving in, but it was a fun clinic anyway.

After work i drove straight to Rutland to pick up the high-level progress cards that i'd made from Staples. The paper stock wasn't what i expected, but they came out okay.

I was supposed to have a 2-hour private in the middle of the day, so Anna & Megan were supposed to ride with Celeste all day, but Celeste was late getting there, so we swapped tasks and i got to ride with the girls. We took a break to climb the fire tower.

Winter League ultimate, final. Early game: We beat the Blue team 31-27. I got scored on a lot, but also got a nice upline goal from Nikki. Also i smacked my nose into one of the opposing players as i was turning to cover someone. No blood, though.
