i took a picture of the spring on this fire hydrant, which i thought was neat. A lot of the time, i can't describe what it is about a picture that makes it work for me, other than i think it's kinda neat, or it looks cool. Does that make it a good picture? I guess that's up for the viewer to decide, but there's gotta be something about the composition or lighting or framing or SOMETHING that makes me say coooooooolllll...

I rode the Purple line (for the first time) up to Evanston to see the movie Spirited Away and have dinner with a woman i met through Match.com.

The recent high water was receding back into the des Plaines river, but i found a couple of fish who were stuck in a dwindling puddle. I rescued them, throwing them back into the river.

I took Seera to the vet today for her annual checkup. I also bought the new Jurassic 5 CD "Power In Numbers" today. Not quite as good as "Quality Control", but still some ripping beats.

I took a different route to work today and took this picture of a wall, which i used as a desktop picture on my computer for a while.

Well guess where i went to take pictures on the 10th? Yep. I was standing on the platform and a train came by, slowed down, slowed down, then stopped. It sat there for about 5 minutes, then with a quick chain of clanks from end to end, it started rolling again.

I walked past the new library construction, where they were pumping cement up to the third floor. The machine that did it shook and wobbled every time it forced another column of cement skyward. Way cool.

On saturday i took the L downtown but i don't remember why. Possibly to play ultimate. In any case, i only took 2 pictures down there, so i snapped a bunch around the house after i got home.

I took a stroll down by the YMCA, along the tracks, then back along Lake Street to the office. Later i went out and shook the camera at the lights in the parking garage.

I think that one of the things that makes taking pictures from the Metra train platform so interesting is that the tracks run due west, so at the end of the day, the trains are either rolling off into the sunset, or rolling right out of it. And there's 3 tracks, plus 2 L tracks, so that's a lot of possible trains to shoot. This picture was actually shot facing east though.

That night i took the blue line all the way out to Jefferson Park to see the Alloy Orchestra perform along with the movie Speedy at a nice old historic movie theater. I hung out with the band afterwards for a bit, then headed back. Took this pic on the L on the way home.

On Sunday i went down to Washington park to play ultimate and saw this house. Somebody must have been filming something there because it was over 50 degrees and there was no snow anywhere else in the state. In fact, if you look really closely, a lot of that snow is fake.

I remember the 22nd as being a day when i just felt uninspired to find anything to take pictures of. Although i did find this freaky bug.

I went down to the Chicago Cultural Center to see the Alloy Orchestra play again, this time to "The Black Pirate". The woman i saw Spirited Away with met me there, but that was the last time we went out. She stopped answering my emails. Oh well. On the train ride home there was a guy sitting across from me that i just had to take a picture of. He sat like this the whole ride.

On halloween i got what a few people have told me is one of their favorite pictures from this whole project. The lights streaming out of the parking garage behind the office just looked cool that night and i took a few different pics from the roof.
