I dropped my truck off at a place in La Grange (which i found from the CarTalk referral website) after work to get its 60,000 mile service, then i rode my bike home, taking pictures along the way. But this pic was taken on my way from work.

Welcome to July 4th, 2002. I took a looooot of pictures today. This is Bernadette and her two brothers at a party at the home of someone from Wendy's church. They usually have a party there every year because you can see the Oak Park fireworks from their backyard. I wanted to get some nice old-timey pictures of kids with fireworks. I didn't really get any good ones of the fireworks.

I left the party to try and get closer, but i couldn't find any spots that weren't either behind too many people or blocking their view. The lighting on the streets after the show was over and people were exodusing was pretty cool. On my way home there were some more fireworks off down the highway.

I think i spent the 5th working on my garage. Then i had to go in to the office for a while that evening. Henri Cartier-Bresson always took his photographs from the viewpoint of him standing. I tend to get down in the faces of my subjects, and i'm not at all averse to lying down on the ground to find a good angle on a picture.

I rode my bike down to the Home Depot in Cicero and bought some nails and whatnot. Came back up Cermak Avenue, looking for interesting things to shoot along the way.

This is a piece of furniture that i'd been building for our summer house in Shunk.

Summer league was way up north that night. I think this is the Berwyn Avenue station on the Red line.

6 pictures of residual rain on steel and plants. Picked up my truck from being repaired.

Summer league that night was at Bunker Hill Park. I was standing on the sideline when one of my teammates spotted a deer on the other side of the fields and warned me to hold my dogs. I looked up, then looked at Teco and pointed at the deer and said something like "Teco! What's that!?" Teco and Seera took off after the deer like two furry bullets. The deer sprang off into the woods. This is Mike, Rick (Pepe), Frank, and CJ.

Did a little work on my garage that day. See? trim! Devil's Tower on my neighbor's roof.

I drove up to Madison for an informal tournament with Chicago Machine, Madison, and Sub Zero from Minneapolis. We won one and lost one. I played well, but missed one cut and it was noticed. I left early, took some pictures by lake Monona and headed back home to work on my garage.

i worked on my garage all day. Then went in to the office that evening.

On Monday i picked up a trailer, loaded it with a kayak and the piece of furniture i'd built, and headed east, taking pictures at rest stops while the dogs stretched their legs. Late that night i arrived at our summer house near Shunk, PA. Stopped for gas in Swanton, OH and Emlenton, PA.

The next few days were spent relaxing and wandering through the woods. This is my mom and nephew Thomas.

This is my cousin Mary's daughter Rachel. She wanted to give Teco a ride and Teco seemed to be OK with it.

I tend to take a lot of pictures when i'm at the lake because 1. I want to get a really great shot of the lake someday, and 2. I don't have to be at work all day, so i have lots of time to find things to shoot. That's my nephew Charlie.

I drove down to Canton to visit my grandmother. Later that day while i was at the general store in Shunk, a big summer rainstorm swept through. That left a nice mist over the lake that evening.

The next morning i got up early and drove north up to Rochester, New York. I stopped in to visit my friend Alyssa and we had breakfast, then i hit the New York State thruway and headed on out to the fields of the midwest. As usual, traffic got heavy as soon as i got into Chicago. Stopped for gas in Clarence, NY, Clyde, OH, and Portage, IN.

The next day being Sunday, i hopped on the L down to Washington Park (stopping in the Loop to take some pics) to ultimate practice. This was my last practice with Machine as i was cut that evening.
