Spent the day removing the old wood stove, cleaning the flue, then building a new support for the new stove pad. Interesting cuts, since the floor is tilted. Came out better than i expected, though.

I had some errands to run this morning and the weather was cloudy, spitty, a bit dismal, but the urge to DRIVE superceded the threat of rain and i took the Mini out of the garage. On the first curve out of East Wallingford, a motorcyclist coming the other way lifted his hand from the handlebar and, in the lean-in of his left-banking turn, gave me a thumbs up. So a good start. The road from East Wallingford to Weston was horrendous and bumpy, but the stretch of new pavement from Weston to Londonderry was sublime. I pulled into the I.G.A. supermarket parking lot and spotted a new Mini, red with a british flag on the roof, parked near the doors. I pulled in next to it and noticed that her license plate was "TRUBRIT." The clerks in the store were admiring the two Minis and i chatted with the owner of the other one, who had a proper British accent and owned a classic Mini back at her other home in England.

Peeling away from the chatty IGA clerks (it was still early and the store was pretty empty), i zipped over to the NAPA to get some oil for the little car, then zoomed back up the Londonderry/Weston road, pulling in to The Vermont Country Store just as it was opening. I browsed around and bought chocolates and candies, then exited the store to find another Brit parked next to me.

Left home in the afternoon on my trek down to Deerfield. Got to Weston and in front of the Vermont Country Store were 6 convertible Triumphs all in a row, idling, ready to roll. I cruised by and waved and the drivers waved back. Got down to Londonderry and made the left turn onto Rt. 11, pulling in behind 3 MGs and two more classic Minis! I waved, the guy in the trailing MG waved, then about 100 feet later i peeled off to continue south. Kinda wanted to follow them.

Arrived at the Deerfiled Inn and walked around taking pictures before running into Mommy, Nina, and Isaiah. Met up with Daddy, Mark, and Naima for a good dinner at the Inn. After dinner, i let both Nina and Mark take a spin in the Mini, then i motored on home up the highway.

Got off of work just after 3:00, hurried home, then drove, towing the Scamp, down to Shunk. I hit Albany at about 5:00 and it took an hour to get through it over to I-88. Finally got to the lake and discovered that there was a broken pipe under the house.

Checked under the house and determined that the pipe was nothing that i could fix, so called the plumbers. They told me that they could be there the next morning, but then i got a call at about 1:30 and was told that they could come over that day. A guy came over and we had running water in a couple hours. Mommy showed up that evening.

Cleaned up and got the boats and patio furniture out. Mommy headed back to Philly in the afternoon and Jason and all of his friends arrived that evening.

The house was noisy with three small semi-unruly children, so i took a couple long walks with Seera and visited with the Baumunks at the other house.

Got up and took a walk around the lake with Seera. Just after lunch, i drove back to Vermont.
