Winter League Ultimate. We beat the Red team 35-25.

Josh and i went out and enjoyed the sunshine and new snow.
|
I got up early and made a slow snowy drive down to Mt. Snow for the first day of a two-day AASI Freestyle clinic. Since there was a foot or more of fresh powder, we spent a good deal of the day riding trees and bumps. Fun. Slow drive home to a snow-filled driveway.

Day two. Another longer-than-usual drive down on snowy roads, then a day full of jumps and rails. In the afternoon we hit the halfpipe and i stepped up with some teaching and critiquing of the other riders. The ride home was finally not as snow-packed and i turned around after arriving home to drive up to Shelburne for Winter League Ultimate. Finished out session 1 by beating the Green team 27-20. 7 wins, 1 loss, with a point differential of +62. The next nearest was +16.

Took Seera in to work.

I started up my old Power Computing Power100 to see if i could unarchive some stuff with a tape-drive that i'd bought. Needed SCSI.

Brrr. Coldest morning of the season. Started the second session of Winter League Ultimate that night. Our team is Red, and we played White. My first pass of the game was also our first score of the night and it was a nice cross-field hammer. Four of our first five points followed suit with cross-field hammers and we ended up winning 40-23, TEN of our scores using hammers.

Chris Saylor came in to the signshop in the morning to tell me that Gordon Robbins had died. He was a pioneer in the world of snowboard instruction and competition and worked as a supervisor at Okemo. Lizzy and i went out after lunch and took a few runs in memory on a bluebird day. She took that picture of me with her phone.

There was a barbeque outside the Ski + Ride School locker room after work where everyone remembered Gordon, then went out to torchlight parade. I hiked a little way up the slope and took lotsa pictures. Seera had a surprise when she stepped onto the moving magic carpet lift. The fireworks started the instant the torches were extinguished and Seera flipped out. I ran down the slope to catch her and put her on a leash. I lost her the last time she was up at Torchlight and i didn't want that to happen again.
Some of my pictures were posted on the Okemo Facebook page (uncredited, as usual) and the one of the fireworks was posted on Instagram. It quickly reached the #2 most-liked picture on their feed.
