Everyone came in early today to do test-runs on the Timber Ripper carts.

Spent the whole morning in the waiting room of the Toyota dealership while my FJ got inspected and had the new bumper pieces put on. It also needed new brakes and the exhaust needed fixing, which i’ll have to get done before it’ll pass inspection.

Met Kim down at the AT/LT trailhead on Routes 11/30 below Bromley and we hiked down a ways to an overlook, which wasn’t quite as spectacular as i’d hoped, but it was a nice walk.

Last day of the 2022 summer season at Okemo.

Went to the farm in the morning, then drove down to Shunk, stopping at Zombie Planet in Albany on my way down to spend more money than i expected on some recommended games for the Lake House.

My friend Don arrived for a few days.

Don and i went over to Buttermilk Falls and met the new owner of the campground there. They don’t have a store anymore, just a small diner. We miraculously did NOT kill ourselves hiking down to the falls and back.

While using the drone, i had it hovering about two feet over the water right next to the dock and inadvertently ran it into one of the dock posts, sinking it to the bottom of the lake. Oops. It was shallow enough that i could reach down and pull it out, but one of the blades snapped. Set it aside to dry for a few days.

Don headed back to Virginia.

Took a short hike out the old road that comes off of the Devil’s Elbow.

Awoke to a very light dusting of snow on things that were not ground. This was the last day that i tried to keep the fire going, as it just kept kicking smoke back into the house. I turned on the electric heat.

Drove down to Gwynedd, detouring on dirt roads around the road closure at World’s End State Park.

Caroline and i started trying to sell some of Mommy & Daddy’s furniture on Facebook Marketplace. Got LOTS of scammers trying to eagerly send me money for the items if only i’d send them my phone number.

Surprised Russell by showing up at the pickup game in Elkins Park, which was, once again, a good game. I left Bulo at the apartment this time, though. As we were all leaving, there was a great blue heron standing in the stream by the park.

Picked up a 6'x12' UHaul trailer and started loading it up. Caroline helped with a few of the bigger pieces of furniture before she had to leave.

Daddy in his new apartment. Finished loading up the trailer and drove up to Shunk, this time staying on I-80 and coming up Route 87. There was a huge traffic jam on the Northeast Extension where three lanes went down to one and it took almost an hour to go about three miles. I started unloading the trailer once i got up there.

Finished unloading, then drove the trailer up to Troy, PA to turn it in. They had to charge me an extra $32 because it was late. Apparently i only got 48 hours with it.

Morning frost and mist on the lake.

The lake was unusually glassy still this morning. It’s usually not this calm after sunup.

Had to go down to Canton for a few things and stopped at the Devil’s elbow recreation area to poke about the trails there.
