After ordering new back tires for the Mini to pass inspection, then sending them back and ordering different ones because i thought that i'd gotten the size wrong, i had the new ones installed today, but after driving away, i discovered that they were rubbing against the frame on the back. So now i know that i can put 165s on the front but only 145s on the back. I returned to the tire place and had the old ones put back on and ordered another set of tires. Then i went hiking in the woods. |
Sunrise and late afternoon. |
Hiked off of Sugar Hill Rd. |
Hiked to the AT/LT from Spring Hill Ranch. |
|
Got the second set of new tires installed. Went back to the place where i'd had the inspection done and they were out of business. |
Hiked all the way around Lowell Lake. |
Only picture i took today. |
Second-busiest day of the year at the Challenge Course. |
Last day of Challenge Course. |
Took pics at the farm, then drove down to Shunk. There was a tree across our driveway. |
My friend Don arrived from Virginia mid-day. |
Don, Bulo, and i drove down to Sharp Top overlook but found that the road had been resurfaced with new gravel/dirt mixture and was closed so that it could dry out before vehicles drove on it. It was a four-mile walk to the overlook, which we decided to do. Got there to a valley of fog, which started clearing out while we rested. Once back to the truck, we drove down to the Rock Run access, where Bulo walked across the bridge railing. |
Day of fishing and errands. There was a leak in the drain pipe under the house so Don and i drove first to Shunk (stopping to poke around the old mill), then down to Canton to get some sealant. One of the strings broke on my Ovation guitar and i don't think i'd changed the strings in at least ten years, maybe longer. I had an (old) new set and put them on, changing the tone from brass to nickel and dull to bright. |
|
Don departed. |
|
Drove down to Gwynedd, PA, stopping at World's End State Park on the way. |
Took Bulo for a hike along the Wissahickon near Mommy and Daddy's place in Gwynedd. |
Drove back to Shunk, stopping at the Wegmans in Williamsport on the way, then winding north from there. I'm pretty sure that i drove up Pleasant Stream Road all the way to Maston at one time, but it is not a road anymore. |
|
Drove over to Laporte (crossing two of the three covered bridges in Sullivan County) to get a free flu shot. I saw Mary there and took a hike with Bulo around the land where she's planning a community center. I stopped by her house on the way and walked down to the Loyalsock. Later that afternoon, Mary and i pored through Gramma's old photo albums. Bulo was not pleased about being left outside. |
Kiddy and Moshi stopped by while i was installing keyed-access doorknobs to the garage and boathouse and we went on a walk up the grade to the big trees in the Y field. |
There was a big flock of geese on the lake today and i chased them around with the drone for a little bit. Some of them weren't purturbed by it at all. |
Treehouse is still holding up, sort of. |
A piano tuner came from Wilkes Barre and tuned and repaired (as much as possible) both of the pianos. He found his way to the grade, but couldn't find the house, probably because the BAUMUNK FORD sign wasn't up, so i had to meet him in Shunk and he followed me in. He was there for a few hours and after he was done, i reinstalled the two signs that i'd been repainting over the past few days. |
|
Cut, split, and stacked one last batch of wood, then drained the water from the house.
|
A lot of rain overnight and into the day. I closed up the house and drove up to a little north of Ithaca, NY to visit with Juliet for a while, then headed east home. |
Back to the farm.
