For the first time in a while, i flew to the Phoenix New Year's Fest ultimate tournament. I got a direct flight there and watched "Almost Famous" on the trip. Chris Smith (female) picked me up and i stayed at her house for the weekend. I played with the Albuquerque team, and although we went 2-2 on Saturday, it was a fun bunch of guys and a good tournament. On Sunday we had the misfortune to end up seeded against the team that ended up winning the bracket in the quarter, so they eliminated us 15-10 or something and went on to D-pool victory. |

Chris and i went to see "O Brother Where Art Thou" and i visited briefly with my friend Stevie. |
I got up early and flew back to the cold frozen north. I bought 2 CDs today. "You're The One" by Paul Simon and "New Train" by Paul Pena. I bought "New Train" after hearing a good review of it on NPR. Paul Pena wrote the song "Jet Airliner" which everyone thinks Steve Miller wrote. Paul Pena's version is better. This album was recorded in the early 70s, then shelved by the record company and never released until now. It's pretty good. Paul Simon's album had a couple good songs, but overall it wasn't that great. |
