Went to see Robert Randolph and the Family Band at the Paramount Theater in Rutland. I'd never been there before and was surprised at how small it was. I was 4th row. I had bought the ticket online the week before (had just found out that they were playing) and since i was a single, i got one of only 4 empty seats on the floor.

It was a good show, but not amazingly awesome, like when i saw them for the first time at the House of Blues in Chicago. Everyone sat through the first song, then Robert got us all on our feet during the next song. The couple next to me stayed sitting down, complaining to the people in front of them, even though the entire rest of the audience was standing. They finally left after about the 4th or 5th song. Geez.

Went to Sectionals with Unfamiliar Tools. We lost to the #1 seed Snowbird 15-2, then lost to the second seed in our pool 15-11, then beat the 4th pool seed 15-1, then played UFX in the play-in bracket and beat them 15-9 or 10 i think.

On my way home i stopped at John Donohue's wedding reception party.

I got up early and drove to Montreal, getting to use my new passport for the first time. I arrived at the fields for the North American Grand Masters tournament just as the first round finished, found the Burlington team Opposable Thumbs, most of whom i'd never met, and began to play. They had won the first game, we proceeded to lose the next two, then we won the last three (short games for a full round-robin of 7 teams).

We drove to the hotel and unloaded and my Trooper wouldn't fit in the underground parking garage, so the parking attendant pointed out a free space on the street next to the hotel. We were on the 31st floor, overlooking the Bell Centre, where the Montreal Canadians play.

We all decided to eat at a Lebanese restaurant a few blocks away, which was pretty good, with a very personable owner serving up the food. Then we went to the party bar, but most of us turned in fairly early.

It was a drizzly morning, then it turned into full-on rain right when the first game of the day started. We played well and beat the team from Massachusetts, then had a great game versus one of the teams that had beaten us the day before and beat them to put ourselves in the final versus Ottowa, the other team that had beaten us. It was their second game of the day and our third. They had about 11 subs, we had 5. We just had no gas and they beat us 12-2. Oh well.
