More snow.

Afternoon sun, driving home on Rt. 103.

I was working on my computer and i heard a crashing/thudding noise outside and figured that it was just snow falling off my roof. About 10 minutes later, someone rang my doorbell and when i answered the door he asked, "Is that your tree?" The top half of the maple tree in my front yard had fallen off into the street, nearly blocking both lanes. He asked if he could come back and cut it up for firewood. Sure, said i.

About 15 minutes later, he came back with a chainsaw and started cutting, and i started dragging the smaller branches out of the street into my front yard. Another guy who worked for a tree-trimming service stopped and helped out. I gave them both a couple jars of homemade jelly.

I was hiking up the hill with my snowboard before the lifts opened this morning and a woman who i'm guessing was an Okemo Mountain Ambassador, although she was not wearing a uniform jacket or name tag, skied up to me and stopped. "Excuse me," she said. "Does your snowboard have a safety leash on it?" "No it does not," i said. "Well, we had a runaway snowboard yesterday that almost hit someone. Will you put a leash on your snowboard?" "OK," i said, with absolutely no intention of doing so. She skied away, i continued my walk, wondering "who the hell was that?" and betting that the runaway snowboard DID have a leash on it, which obviously did NOT prevent it from running away.

I was feeling pretty tired and sicky, so after 10 o'clock line-up, i left and worked in the sign shop for the rest of the day.

I had the morning off and drove in to Rutland to have a slow leak in one of my tires fixed. Then i stopped at the bank, then went to PetCo. I was disappointed to discover that PetCo didn't seem to have any of the glucosamine formula that i buy for the dogs, nor did they have any snap-catch collars in the same size as Seera's old one, which i need to replace. Grrr...

Seera was out in the yard making noises and barking so i went up to the front of the house to see what was going on. There were a couple of fire trucks in the driveway across the street. Within 20 minutes there were about 12 firetrucks on the street. The garage behind the house across from mine was on fire. There's an apartment on the upper floor and apparently someone left grease cooking on the stove and ran out to the store to get something.

It was interesting to watch the fire crews at work because East Wallingford has no public water system, so they got out this big portable pool and unfolded it, and then a series of tanker trucks would back up to it and dump their water in, then pull away for the next truck. The pumper truck would then suck the water from the pool to spray on the fire.

I was on my way home and saw this bus in the Okemo parking lot. It's not a sticker i designed, but there's a "Play Ultimate" sticker on the back window. Cool.
