Day 1, observing at the US Open. Due to the antibiotics that i was on for Lyme disease, my skin was exceptionally sensitive to the sun. I had to get out a long-sleeved shirt to wear all day, but the backs of my hands were getting painful. Shiellah and i observed 3 games.

Sheillah also gave me a disc from Worlds in thanks for laying out the French version of the rules of ultimate.

Day 2 observing. Observed 3 games with Glenn.

Day 3 observing. I only had one game to observe, the semifinal between Denver Molly Brown and D.C. Scandal. Saw some amazing plays by Opi Payne and made one out call at the back line that i'm still not sure was out or not but it seemed like she didn't close her hand on the disc until her front foot touched out of bounds. Nina, Isaiah, and Naima came down to watch the game that i was observing, then we went over to the stadium to say hi to Charlie. I stayed and hungt out in the stands with the other observers, heckling the observers who were working the two semifinals that we were watching.

I was not sceduled to observe any of the finals so i stayed at Nina's all day, letting my skin heal and watching the games on their big projection TV. That evening we all walked down to India Point Park and saw the city's fireworks display. It was okay, but there wasn't any grand finale to it, it just ended.

Drove up to Patrick's house and we motored around in the Mini again, filming and talking. We had lunch at an excellent BBQ place, then chased down an ice cream truck. I drove home a different way, stopping at a comic book store near Patrick's house, then up a scenic but under-maintained road in to New Hampshire and eventually Vermont. I think Seera was happy to be out of the car and home.

Spent the next few days putting together the above video.

Disc Golf League Night. I shot a -4 and got the #3 tag. The #2 tag was not in play and Tommy shot an impressive -7 (including an ace on hole 4) to take the #1 tag.

Up to the farm again to see if i could get some pics of the newly-ripening tomatoes.

Drove up to Crown Point NY and back to get a picture of a lighthouse. The park Ranger even let me in the park to take the picture without the $6 day fee.

Disc Golf League Night. I shot a +4 (bogeyed the first 3 holes) and got the #6 tag.

I drove in to Rutland in the morning and i was going to stop at the farm on my way back, but i stopped to take a picture and when i started the Mini again, it was making a nasty clanking noise as it ran. I nursed it home—low power and increasing heat—then switched cars and drove the FJ over to the farm.

I drove the Mini over to Ludlow Service Center in the morning. It had very little power and got hot. I took the bus home and Tony took a look at the Mini. He called me later and told me that he was getting 120 PSI of pressure on cylinders 3 and 4, but only 55 PSI on 1 and 2. he didn't feel comfortable working on that engine, so i drove in to Rutland and rented a car trailer, drove to Ludlow and picked up the min, drove it down to Sports Car Services in Keene, NH, dropped it off, drove back to Rutland and dropped off the trailer, drove home. Whew.

Spent part of the day shooting a video for Ting. (See August 4 and August 30.)

Went to the farm in the morning, then rented a trailer from UHaul in Rutland and drove down to Sports Car Services to pick up the mini. Back to my house, drop off the Mini, back to Rutland, drop off the trailer, back home. Whew again.

Took the Mini out on a test drive and to pick up some more points for the Moss Motoring Challenge. Drove up to Barnard, VT, then over to Quechee, then looped back home. The Mini ran a little hot still, but nice and smooth with more power than it's had recently.

Farm again. I was going to be gone for a few weeks, so i took a lot of pictures before i left.
