I got up early and drove the Mini over to Jackson Gore. Hung out there taking pictures until the zipline guides (John and Tim) showed up, then i joined them on their morning check-out run. I came in to tower 8 and dropped the platform, but because they'd changed where the lanyard attached (over the cable now), i just caught the platform with the tips of my shoes and couldn't go anywhere. Tim grabbed me and pulled me in, but i realized that i needed to learn to not drop and just pull myself in along the cable. From there i drove down to Londonderry and met up with Chrystal, who followed me in her car over to Sports Car Services in Westminster West. We looked around and talked with David, the owner, and after Chrystal said that she'd always wanted an MG, he let us take a spin down the road and back in his convertable MG. After that, Chrystal drove me home, with a stop at The Vermont Country Store for some chocolate.

Disc golf league night. Hardly anyone there. Had a -1 going into 18 and double-bogeyed 18, but kept my #4 tag.

Got up early and met Sarah and Tim for the morning zipline chek-out run. This time i tried a couple pull-ins and when i got to tower 8, i successfully pulled myself to the platform. Sarah and Tim were standing there watching me and i said "you were just waiting to see if i made it, weren't you?" Yup.

Took Seera on two walks today.

Early morning sky on my way to work.

Finished up redoing the main Okemo sign. Josh and i had done the north side of the sign on Friday and our boss Tim just about blew a gasket because we'd hung all the letters dead straight to gravity. The bottom of the sign was level, the sides were level, but the top cap was slightly tilted, so putting the letters on straight made them look (to Tim, but not to pretty much everyone else) tilted. Afte i left work, he and Josh went back and moved the right-most "O" up about a half inch, which i think is even more noticable, but by that point, i'd diverced myself of that sign. On the south face, we purposely put it on a little tilted so that it would match the top, not gravity. Actually, if you look really closely, it's slightly curved. But both sides look fine from the road, so there.

After dinner that evening, David from Sports Car Services picked me up on his way home from a delivery of an Austin Healey to Rutland. I rode with him down to his shop and picked up my Mini, which i drove home on a very foggy evening. Defrosters? Surely you jest.

There were two bears in the dumpster at work this morning and one of the grounds guys went into the woods and shot one of them. Bummer way to start a morning, but apparently the bear had a tag on it that indicated that it was a nuisance bear and had already been removed from human populations once before.

Disc golf league night. Had a -5 going into hole 18 and bogeyed it so ended up with a -4, which was my best score ever and earned me the #1 tag. Also won closest to the pin for the 3rd time in a row.

Got up early and drove up to Stowe, Vermont for the 24th Annual British Invasion. David from Sports Car Services managed to wrangle me a last-minute spot. On the way i was behind a couple of slow drivers but near Granville, Vermont a big bull moose crossed the road in front of us! First full moose sighting!

I was the 3rd of about 12 classic Minis to arrive at the field. I saw Paul Nevins, who owns a couple of Minis and lives in Mount Holly, and talked with some of the other owners, then circled the field and cast my votes for the best car in each category. Lotta nice cars. One of the Land Rover owners let me sit in his Defender 110 to see how it felt. I want one.

I hung out at the field and did some writing, then stayed through most of the long drawn-out awards ceremony (i did not win anything), then drove back home. The Mini was performing flawlessly.

Disc golf league night. Shot a +2 and lost the #1 tag for the #4 tag.

Disc golf league night. Shot par (tied with Nuge, but i came in with a lower tag). Grant had a -1 coming into 18 and double-bogeyed, so i regained the #1 tag again.

At disc golf the night before, Tim (zipline guide) asked if i wanted to watch the sun rise from tower two. I did. I met him in the parking lot at about 6:20 and we drove up to the lines and zipped out. Unfortunately, the valley was obscured by fog, so we just had a foggy zip back down to the base, then i went to work. Good way to start the day.

Loaded up the Mini with ultimate stuff and drove down to the Motel 6 in Leominster, Mass, where my hotel room was booked for the regionals ultimate tournament in devens. I was the first one there and was informed that they didn't have an non-smoking rooms left. I hesitantly accepted the room, but within 2 minutes of being in it, my eyes were burning. It had fake-wood floor, double beds with crappy box springs, was tiny, and pretty much was, i think, the worst hotel room i've ever almost stayed in. I got on the wifi (provided free only because they'd jerked me on the room) and booked a room at a hotel half an hour away that had queen-size beds, free wifi, and free breakfast. I texted Wally, who was scheduled to be my roommate, said "this place is a shithole", and gave him the address of the other hotel.

Day one of Northeast Regionals. Lots of observers, no major problems except that some of the observer crew were fairly raw, so i had to select my observer pairings carefully. We all went to dinner that night at a japanese kitchen restaurant, which was the same place we'd gone the year before and which was, as it had been the year before, kinda bland. Everyone else was staying at the crappy Motel 6 across the street, so they all walked to their hotel room, while Wally and i had to drive down to our much nicer one.

Day two of Northeast Regionals. An iffy last-point call in one of the games got some people on one team riled up and almost yelling at the observers, but for the most part, things went fairly civilly. I was beat by the end of the day and my hip was sore for a few days afterwards.

Drove home and unloaded the Mini, then drove up to Evening Song Farm, where i picked up a very happy Seera. While i was up there, i took some pictures of stars.
