Another day of riding. Met up with the managers of the Ski and Ride school and took a couple runs with E.T., the head of the snowboard school.
Erica set me up with a room at the Elevation Hotel for the next two nights, which was pretty sweet. Slopeside. I had to drive back down to Erica's house to get my stuff, then stopped at the supermarket for some food. I watched TV in the hotel room.

Didn't ride today. I met up with Todd Kramis, the head of the sign shop at CBMR. I toured around the facilities of the resort with him and got a sense of his workflow and where everything is and what signs needed installing or updating. It was in the -20s today anyway.
That evening Erica threw a surprise 30th birthday party for Justin at the 9380 Restaurant, which was on the ground floor of the Elevation Hotel, where i was staying. I discovered that the reason it's called 9380 is because that's the elevation.
I snacked on a lot of hors d'oevres and desserts and met a bunch of people. Justin got "iced" 6 times and had to down 6 Smirnoff Ices.
After the party i took some night shots of the mountain.

-22 degrees in the morning, and people on the lifts were complaining about the cold, but it was calm and sunny and nowhere near as cold at the summit of Okemo on a crappy day. When my face got cold, i'd just stop for a minute and look at the sun. Warmed it right up.
I carried the camera all morning and took a bunch of pics, then stashed it in Erica's office and took a couple runs with E.T., a cute Kiwi instructor named Alex, and a couple other snowboard instructors (yes, i remembered the cute one's name). I wanted to go do a halfpipe clinic with them, but told Todd that i'd meet up with him, which i did. He took me on some runs i hadn't been on before, and i coached him in the halfpipe, which he'd never skied in.
Todd and i were going to have a drink at the local hangout, but the sun was setting and i wanted to go down and see the town of Crested Butte, so i did.
Dinner with Justin and Erica. Spent the night there in their guest room, as Vic had left the day before.

Gunnison airport, early morning. Denver airport, not-quite-as-early morning.
Erica drove me down to Gunnison. There was a big storm tracking across the south, so iwas worried about flight delays. About an houl-and-a-half delay waiting for the plane in DC, but made it home. My Trooper had about a foot or so of snow on it in the parking lot. The shuttle driver waited while i tried to start it, just in case the battery was dead from the alarm going off (it had been going off at random times over the past couple months), but it started up just fine.
I stopped by Chipotle in Albany and got a big burrito for the drive home.

Would have loved to have stayed in Crested Butte another day or two, but i had to go out on the hill and video the Women's Alpine Adventures program at Okemo today. Shot this pic of Dennis Brady and Kevin Bixby as they went by.
When i was in the WAA room, Libby told me that one of the participants thought i was cute. Then Celeste came over and very unsubtly tried to find out how old i was...

Relaxing day off. Drove my truck over to the shop in the afternoon to drop it off to get fixed (anti-lock brake light was on). Went shopping beforehand and rode the bus back home with my grocery bags.

Took the early bus in to work. Took the bus back out to the shop at the end of the day to pick up my truck.

First game of the Green Mountain Disc Alliance session 2 of Winter League. I drove over to Fair Haven and met up with Frank and Darryl, who are on my team, and we drove up to Shelburne for our 9:30 PM game. The games are in a fieldhouse and it was the first time i'd ever played on that new artifical turf. Prett neat. I felt out of shape, but the team gelled together pretty well and we won 39-20. (The rules in indoor are no pulls, if you score, you drop the disc and the other team picks it up and goes, with all subbing done on the fly, which accounts for the high scores.)
I stopped at the 24-hour grocery store and got home and to bed by 2:00 AM.
