Nina, Mark, Isaiah, Naima, Mommy, and Daddy all arrive for a visit and ski vacation.
|
A day on the slopes. Isaiah went into Snow Stars, Naima was in day care with a Mini Stars ski lesson, Nina and Mark went skiing, and i got Mommy into a ski lesson. My friend Ron set her up in a private lesson with Chris and she did very well. I bopped around on my snowboard and took pictures.
Mark made one of his signature detailed salads (with the meager selections in my fridge) at dinner.
|
Another day of skiing. Isaiah wasn't feeling well so stayed home with Daddy. Mommy went to the top of the mountain and had one small spill but did well. I saw the train going by as i slid down to the signshop.
|
Back to work for me. Nina, Mark, and Isaiah went skiing on a beautiful sunny day.

Happy birthday Teco! (near enough) For those of you who were friends, FB deleted his and Seera's profiles. Blatant dogscrimination!

With all the snow, Seera's had ample opportunities to bury her nose (and most of the rest of her body) in it.

I took some pictures of the dogs with my iPhone so that i'd have 'em to show to people when i was off in Colorado.

Denver airport, late afternoon.
I drove to Albany, flew to Chicago (window seat), then to Denver (middle seat, ugh), then to Gunnison, CO (window seat - small jet). I texted Erica when i got in and she and her husband Justin were at a function, so their friend Vic was on his way down to pick me up. I was the only one in the small Gunnison airport by the time he got there. He drove us up to Erica and Justin's place in South Crested Butte. Vic was staying in the guest room, so i was put up in the room over the garage, which was quite cold.
|
Erica left me her car to use (nice all-wheel-drive Audi) so when i got up, i drove up to the mountain (saw a snowcat drive by at a 4-way stop in the town of Crested Butte) and got my free 4-day pass (Okemo employee) and went out to explore the mountain. I took both T-bar lifts to the the top of all the steep terrain, checked out the halfpipe and parks, rode through a lot of trees, chatted with the lifties, and generally checked the whole place out.
That evening i went with Erica, Justin, and Vic to Ethan and Katie Mueller's house for dinner. Tim and Diane (Erica and Ethan's parents and owners of Okemo and Crested Butte) were also there and it was neat to be treated like family. We had broiled elk.
Tima and Diane had just brought Erica and Justin a new puppy a couple days before i got there. His name is Drake and he had sharp puppy teeth.
The heater above the garage had been going full all day so that night was pretty warm up there.
