The dead transaxle. I was about to leave Shunk and i stopped by the sawmill to get some scrap wood, only to find that my truck wouldn't go in reverse. I drove back up to Scott Quail's garage and he discovered that one of the bolts holding one of the rear brakes had come out so the whle brake assembly was acting like a ratchet. The wheel would turn forwards, but not backwards. He tightened everything up and i drove home. That night, Teco couldn't climb the stairs to get upstairs and i had to carry him up to my bedroom. Looking back on this, it seems likely that he suffered a stroke some time that day, since he was fine that morning. He was really weak on one side and his head drooped to that side for a couple weeks, but after about a month, his strength returned. |
I was really worried about Teco when i was at work that day, and his condition wasn't much improved that evening. I took a few pictures of him thinking that they might be the last. It was a few days before he could get around without stumbling, but he slowly got better. |
Artsy dogs. |
Since teco was having trouble with stairs, i built a ramp over the back staircase. Seera eventually picked it up, but Teco never used it. |
Throwback photo to my Introduction to Photography course. |
Walked the dogs along the tracks, and a train came by. Seera was sitting on a pile of railroad ties next to me and Teco was at my feet, until i looked up to wave at the conductor as the engine passed by. Next thing i know, Teco's sprinting out of the way of the front wheel of the train. I don't think he ever heard it. Luckily he got out of the way. |
Drove down to Littleton to Edna & Greg's. Teco and Seera got to meet their dog Neeka and they all basically got along after some growling and one scuffle between Seera and Neeka. I borrowed Greg's GPS and let it guide me into Boston to The Paradise, where i went to see Mission of Burma. I ran into Roger Miller at the concession table, which seems to be always where i see him. It was a good show:
I got home at about 1:00 AM. |
Got up, took a shower, then took the dogs over to some nice trails through the woods that
Then i drove over to CA and wandered around the campus for the afternoon. I talked to one of the
After a while, i ran into Don and his kids and then Damon and Ned and a whole bunch of other people.
After dinner, Damon, Ned, Derek, and i drove back into Boston (i remembered the way from the Another good show, picking up right where the last one left off:

Got up late, drove in to CA and hung out with classmates all day. Played a really lazy game of ultimate with other alums (photo of me barely covering Grattan Baldwin taken by Lisa Latham) Damon showed "Drug Addiction at CA: A Serious Documentary" at dinner (photo of me and Don taken by Damon, who also took the photo of me in the funky vehicle), and Jean Morrow showed some other student films that she'd digitized. That night our class once again won the party, finally breaking up at 1:15 AM. |
Brought the dogs in to CA and chatted with people at brunch, then went over to the Nicolson's house for a lunch gathering. I stopped by Edna & Greg's again before hitting the road back up to VT. |
Chomp, chomp. |
Played an ultimate tournament in Lebanon, NH. There were 5 teams and we lost every game.

Went for a hike along the Homer Stone brook Trail, but then it started pouring rain, so i bailed. |
